I've posted a decent amount of Back Ta Basics 7"s in the past. Here's another one, by NJ's Bloodrust. To be honest, I know very little about this band, they seem to have been around for only a few years and I don't think that besides demo's they did anything else besides this 7"? As you can probably imagine from the title of this 7", 'New Jersey Devil Core', Bloodrust played 'evil' metalcore. In sound they are comparable to another NJ band from the late '90s that I blogged about before, As Darkness Falls (here and here), as well as a band like Deadeyesunder. This 7" was released in 1998, and in true Back Ta Basics Records fashion, it has a badly handcut, photocopied cover and comes with a BTB list of releases. Unfortunately there are no lyrics and almost no info on Bloodrust on the insert. Oh well... The 7" is pretty solid tho, it's a shame the band didn't get some more attention while they were around. If anybody has some info on this band, please leave a comment.

Great band. They really won me over because I was a death metal kid being turned on to hardcore at the time so they filled that gap perfectly.
I saw them a bunch of times actually - first time was in a basement with Arcane (pre-Dillinger Escape Plan), Blood Of Judas and a few others. Day Of Suffering were supposed to play but couldn't leave VA because of a hurricane.
Anyhow - they had two demos. One had two songs, the other had four. All the songs were great. They also had a discography called Historia but I don't think it ever got released. When my music blog was up, I put up the demos for download and one of the members ended up sending me the discography.
I could probably put up the demos again if people were interested.
Actually - here's the 4-song demo from 1997. http://www.mediafire.com/?n9kzdzmfr9m
haha, i used to talk to one of these dudes online back in the AOL days.......nice dude too....the band wasnt bad, but they were no canephora or die my will.....
please up Bloodlet - Eclectic
Thanks.
please re-up...
please up that discography, i bought this demo from rick ta life's bootleg shamble he called "a distro" and it was by far one of thee worst things i have ever heard... it sounded like someone played it on a great sounding stereo and somebody placed a tape recorder like youd use to record a college lecture course and photocopied the insert...
there were 4 releases
2 song demo
4 song ep
4 song ep (the one referenced here)
2 song demo years later
The Historia that is mentioned in above comments was put together by the original bass player who played on everything mentioned above except for the second 4 song EP that we see an image of here. This EP was recorded decently (not extremely well) but quality was reduced when Rick got his hands on it. Rick also put together the artwork (worst thing ever) and put that name EP name on it, all without the bands guidance or permission.
I played guitar on the 4 song EP we're talking about here and didn't even know it got released til i saw a copy at my friend's place a year after we sent it to Rick. Thankfully i managed to get 1 copy of the 7 inch. I then went on to play with Clubber Lang but have stayed good friends with these guys since then, except for the drummer, he sucks at life.
If anyone is interested in the rest of the songs let me know and i'll post.
Life. *noted
