Powered By Pride - Jersey Style demo

Here's another demo I picked up at Alain Out For Blood's R.P.P. distro at a show back in the day. His demo-box would always be filled with new demo's to check out and buy, haha. This is the 'Jersey Style' demo by Powered By Pride, a hardcore band from New Jersey (obviously). Recorded in early 1998, this is fairly typical tough NJHC/NYHC. Good stuff tho, if you enjoy this style. The thanks list mentions bands such as Burnside, Da Real Deal and Forsaken Existence, that should give you a clue as to what this band sounds like. I don't think this band did anything else recording-wise, tho I'd love to be proven wrong, so if anybody has some more PBP recordings, do leave a comment! Drummer Jared would also do time in Ego Cage and Shortfall, no idea what the other band members did besides PBP.

Awesome. Always glad to hear more obscure NJ bands from the 90's. If you ever find out that they recorded more definitely post an update!

PBP never recorded again with this lineup. They made a bunch of personnel changes (new drummer, additional singer) and reformed a short while after this demo was made but I don't think ever recorded anything with that lineup either.

Dan and Jim were in Ego Cage prior to PBP and put out a few demo tapes.

Burnside is mentioned there, make sure you check out the record they put out, "Visions of Serenity". It's amazing.

After this PBP lineup Jared left the band and was replaced by Jack (Burnside, Da Real Deal, East Coast Villanz) on Drums, Jack's brother dave picked up second guitar and Dave K was added on as an additional singer to solidify the brutally metal hardcore 6 piece.
There are a few recordings of live shows. Mostly their shows were a fiasco of violence

Saw this band play a show in fishtown when they switched to a 6 piece. Awesome!!! Ashame that line-up never recorded that I know of. Played a very thug style but in my opinion, the band Ego Cage that the singer and bass player originally started was the best. Hope their will one day be an Ego Cage reunion as long as they didn't die from alcohol poisoning. They were truly my generations Murphy's Law.

Way way way harder than Murphy's law. Different style! But partying wise, I agree, they went hard.

If either of you guys have any Ego Cage material digitized, please share! Would love to hear it!
